Bespoke Garden Design & consulting
Garden design, what is it really?
Well, its sort of whatever you want it to be.
Obviously there’s the rule of thumb stuff, but essentially it’s about you and your intended area for a small or big change, or maybe just a tinker with. You don’t always need a bulldozer, and possibly working with what you have in whole or part to adjust the dynamic is a better approach.
Each task has a unique characteristic and demand, but with empathy I aim to be resourceful wherever possible, but at the same time create elements of practicality, beauty and individualism within the space.
It certainly doesn’t have to be a costly or complicated task. Latin blurb and technical gas is one thing and yes part of it all, but I will break this part down to make it approachable. I want you to be part of it too and understand the changes because its yours to use, look at, develop and enjoy.
The Design process
The design illustrations as big pretty works of art can cost a thousand plus, but they’re not always required, and if so is this precious lolly best spent on the garden itself?
In the majority of commission I provide sketches, scaled keylines and visuals, sometimes isometric scale plans of varying detail which will happily answer the design poser, and easy to follow in construction. This is coupled with a detailed explanation of the build process, content and the reason why what lies within the design, plus aftercare and maintenance advice.
There are oodles of things that can crop up when undertaking any design, a few must dos for example are to consider the form and function, access, focal points, effect on the natural landscapes being during, after and long beyond the works finish, and to be aware of any increased workload, as you want it to be a pleasure not a chore.
What about Mother Nature?
Yes, the big cheese, Mother Nature, often has a say and this may apply to site conditions like soil type, or factors from the compass points which directly effect above ground conditions. But she’s forgiving and when any rules are involved you can bend them, but don’t break them. So let’s encourage pushing the boundaries with respect.
You can be brave, experimental and bold, but there’s nothing wrong with playing safe either, its your space afterall and there’s no gain from being blinkered and wasteful.
From my start in 1997 my passion was to deliver creditable answers to improving outdoor living space wherever possible, no matter the size or local environment. Something somewhere can be done to enhance the places we live in, breath and eat.
So, if its time to get involved imagine a tombola and chuck in all the ideas, wishes and wants you have and lets make a plan.
To explore the possibilities lying in your own plot I’m always free for a friendly chat and a chat is free.
I look forward to your words and company.
