The Featherstone Show Site
About The Show Site
Featherstone gardens began its rejuvenation in the summer of 2018. At that juncture it was a desperately overgrown jungle, neglected and forgotten for many years.
But with progressive clearing and cutting back a few gems were uncovered and scope to make something magical was soon a realisation rather than just a dream.
The Scotts Summerhouse Collection
Right now in the Cat and Mouse show gardens at Featherstone, near Hailsham, is the Scotts of Thrapston collection of beautiful summerhouses.Yours to discover, experience, and learn more about 7 days a week by appointment.
Stars of the show include the versatile, corner perfect pentagonal Newhaven with a low pitched fibreglass roof. There’s the Octagonal pairing of a cedar roof topped, cosy Baltimore and The larger Burghley model, in an eye catching Aubergine paint finish.
Lastly the quartet cast is complete with the Sun Ray Garden Room, a spacious feeling oval with 10 sides, 5 of which incorporate glass. So the panorama from within looking out and the light coming in is greatly enhanced.
They all reside harmoniously in a landscaped, mature and natural garden setting, surrounded by the many facets of nature as it goes about its working day.
Each summerhouse has its own dedicated footprint and story to tell, from the raised grooved timber deck, clay paver wheel, rustic cantilevered pond deck and recycled log cabin platform.

Wildlife & Wellbeing
In Featherstone’s own and neighbouring gardens, surrounding fields too, various wildlife is plentiful, active and seemingly very healthy and happy.
Over the bottom fence a few working bee hives reside, sheep graze the boundaries and lambs drop by for a skippady doo and inquisitive squeak come spring. Playing, learning, and chasing the rabbits and crows.
Green and Spotted woodpeckers laugh and chatter, squirels and robins argue, tits and finches flutter aplenty, pheasants prance, Blackbirds and Thrushes chirp and sing to name just a few.
The excited greeting of the dawn chorus and evening goodnight serenade at opposite ends of the day in their own individual way can be mesmeric. Its a privilege to witness, see and hear.
All this combined makes for a blessed spot, its so easy to shut off, take stock, witness and behold the beauty of nature being right in front of your nose. For David, he has enjoyed and embraced nature all his life and this location continues that pleasure with a real wellbeing feeling almost every day.
